The process of getting our house on the market was busy and started way back in January! We spent many hours painting and fixing little things around the house and many hours packing boxes of stuff either for Ditto or for the storage unit. Then we were in the phase of having showings and open houses for 4 months! Then came our first offer which fell through about a week later. And just a few days ago, we finalized another offer and we're hoping this agreement won't change until closing which is in a few weeks. Now that we have an offer, and our time here is drawing to a close, I've been packing a lot of boxes again. I am going to miss this house, but I've been preparing myself for the move for nearly a year now. It's wonderful to have a house in Sioux Center that I love. I'm looking forward to decorating it and making it our home!
This is what our house looked like before showings. Our best compliment was at an open house when someone asked, "Does anyone live here, it's so clean." My thoughts when I heard the comment were, "Yeah...a family with 3 and 4 year old boys!" It made me feel like I'd done my job of cleaning and organizing well. :)
There was one morning when we had a showing scheduled, and Nathan was talking to the boys before he left for work and said, "Now, there is someone coming tonight to see if they want to buy our house so what do you think that you need to do today?" And the reply was supposed to be something like, "Be good helpers for mommy." But Dorian said, "We can watch TV!!!" I did often allow the boys to watch more tv on those days and that's how I was able to get it done. :)
Nathan brought home flowers after he had gone to his office to fax in the purchase agreement! We kept saying to each other that it was all going to work out, no matter what happened and we're so thankful that the timing of everything is working out perfectly. It will be very nice not to have to maintain a house that is 11 hours away from where we'll be living.
