Some September Memories

On September 10, Dorian went on a field trip to the Apple Orchard near Sioux Falls.  I really wanted to go along, but I decided it was best if I didn't.  I do kind of regret not going.  But I thought that he would cling to me if I was there and he would do just fine on his own.  Thankfully Mrs. Niewsma sent some pictures and it does indeed look like he had a good time.  I know he was very proud of the 4 apples that he got to take home and share with us!

MOPS: Levi was so excited for MOPS to start for the year! It was a good first meeting on the 13th and I'm really excited to get to know the new moms in my group this year. It was nice to not be a new mom and see many more familiar faces this year than last year.

My mom, sisters and I had a cooking day on Friday, the 14th, at our house.  We enjoyed our day together and it's wonderful to have delicious pre-made meals in the freezer!  It was a very busy day because the Rosema's came around 4:30 to stay overnight at our house.  We really enjoyed having them here!  We made homemade malts and checked out the Harvest Festival together.

I got a phone call from Levi's teacher on Monday night.  Our first call from a teacher.  :)  She said that she thought we'd want to know how sweet  Levi had been at preschool that morning.  Eden had a really hard morning because she got nervous about being the "Lucky Duck", it was her turn to be the special helper.  Levi saved a spot for her so she could sit next to him and then later waited for her by the girl's bathroom after washing their hands.  Mrs. Christy said that he showed genuine love and kindness and wanted us to know.  How sweet of her to call and tell us and how wonderful to be reminded of Levi's kind heart.

Speaking of preschool, Levi's favorite thing so far has been singing Down by the Bay and his favorite line is when a moose kisses a goose.  He just cracks up every time he tells me about it!  It's hilarious.


This past Tuesday morning we decided to stay home since Levi wasn't feeling the best.  I decided that they could earn stickers for their reward chart for doing puzzles which was a lot of fun for them and took a good part of the morning. 

Levi spent a long time on this ABC train puzzle.  It was fun to hear him sing the ABC song over and over again!

Nathan told me on Friday that he had a couple of important meetings and wanted to look nice.  So he wanted me to pick out what he was wearing.  :)  I've suggested ties before to him for various other occasions but this was the first time he took me up on it.  The boys thought it was really fun to wear daddy's ties and they looked adorable.  Nathan looked good too...should have gotten a picture of him as well.  :)

One of our Fall projects was to get the deck stained.  It was looking pretty rough!



 I chose a stain that's a little darker than what was previously on.

After supper on Friday night Nathan was getting ready to head out and paint.  It was Dorian's idea to get out his paints and paint rocks while daddy painted the deck.  It was pretty cute!

 

 

As of Saturday afternoon, the deck is officially completed!

Nathan could tell after painting on Thursday night that we had miscalculated how much stain we were going to need.  So on Friday morning while Levi was at preschool Dorian and I made a trip to Lowe's.  And while we were in the big city I couldn't help but do a little shopping.  When we were at Target, I found pillows for the couch!  This is amazing since I've literally looked at 100's of pillows and couldn't find anything that I liked for the right price.  :)

Dentist and Doctor visits:  Unfortunately, we are getting to know our dentist and doctors quite well in Sioux Center.  We all went to the dentist and Dorian has to return 2 more times to fill the 2 cavities that he has. :(  Dorian has been in twice to the doctor for wart treatments on his foot and has another couple of visits to come.  And I'm going in monthly now to check on our little one!  Dorian, Levi and I had the flu shot on Monday and I'm not sure it correlates at all, but Levi and I have had colds this past week.  I guess it's the time of year to expect that sort of thing.


School Pictures:  Dorian had school pictures taken on Thursday.  I predict that it will be the last picture he takes where he will have all of his baby teeth in.  :(  He has a pretty wiggly front tooth that's been hurting him and we can see the permanent tooth poking through!  He is wishing that he didn't have to get new teeth because it hurts, but he is excited about the possibility of getting money from the "tooth fairy".  :)
