photography

So, what was the main reason that I haven't blogged in 2 months?  First it was researching SLR camaras and purchasing the Nikon D5000, then my 6 week online class started to learn the basics of photography.  (But it was also preschool starting, Hope classes began, Mom and Dad Tintle visited for a weekend, Tammy Veenstra visited, Mom and Dad Bolkema visited, Nathan flew out for his grandfather's funeral, Katherine and Mikayla visited for a day, Dorian's 4th birthday, Nathan flew out for a conference in Boston for 4 nights, Nathan had a huge grant proposal to submit, and Levi started taking swimming lessons at the aquatic center!!!...and the list could go on.)  Life just always seems very busy.

But back to photography.  I love it!  I can now take pictures in manual mode and know what many of the buttons on my camara mean!  And I love my new SLR camara.  I can really see a difference in the quality of my photographs from our point and shoot camara.

When I was learning about aperture and taking photographs to experiment, I had a very fun moment of being able to do exactly what Maggie (the class instructor) was talking about!  And to top it off, I got to eat a chocolate chip cookie!

Trying to be creative...taking pictures of my favorite plant...needed a stationary and willing subject.  :)

And I've always thought it looked cool to capture raindrops in a photograph...and I did it myself!

Here are some of my favorite perspective photographs.  :)

When Nathan mentioned heading out to Lake Michigan after he got home from work one night last week, I was excited thinking that it was a great opportunity to take more pictures.  :)

Our big 4 year old still looks so little!

Some favorite photographs of the boys on our walk over to Prospect Park!

So glad I caught this precious moment on camara.  :)  The boys both love all the acorns!

The boys are so cute, it's hard to narrow it down.  :)  Liked the series of pictures of Dorian.

Dorian has really been into drawing rainbows the last few weeks.  :)

This is how the boys felt most of the time that I had the camera in my hands.  :)
