Nathan went on a trip to Kansas State on the 6th and 7th.
Dordt's Christmas party was at President Erik and Barb's house which included good food and conversations with friends.
The boys and I met the Boogerds to see the free movie, Despicable Me 3 in the theater.
We met Grandma Bolkema for supper at the retirement home where she lives and enjoyed walking around to see all of the Christmas trees, playing games and eating snacks with her!
I thought it was precious to see Mason working so hard on writing his numbers 1 through 100!
Levi did a fantastic job playing a Christmas duet with his cello teacher at his recital!
I wrapped up a Beth Moore Bible study at church with friends. It was good to build stronger friendships and be challenged to grow deeper in my faith.
Love seeing artwork from the boys!
We loved watching Mason's Preschool Christmas program!
Nathan had his group of Cadet boys to our house to work on a project. They were excited to also have brownies for a snack!
While Nathan and I were gone on our trip to London, the boys were excited to have both sets of grandparents to take turns watching them!
Levi sang songs from the Messiah for the SCCS Christmas program! It was beautiful!
Nathan and I enjoyed joining Mason for his Christmas party at school. He frosted a Christmas tree and decorated it with lots of yummy candy.
Our Christmas party with the extended Bolkema family included Minute to Win It games and volleyball in the gym.
Claire shared her new hover board with anyone who wanted to give it a try! Nice work Grandpa!
Ashley shared her dinosaur costume and Dorian tried that out for fun!
We played our traditional Bingo games complete with prizes!
On Sunday, Christmas Eve, we went to Dad and Mom's house to celebrate together.
Nathan had the best seat in the house, but wasn't so sure it was the most comfortable when sharing with Levi, Mason and Macey!
Mason will enjoy some new car tracks and a puzzle!
Levi loved his new penguin and Nintendo DS!
Dorian will have fun riding his long board and figuring out a new game!
Claire and Dorian like to play games together!
Christmas morning! The boys opened stockings.
Dorian, Levi and Nathan are going on a fishing trip with friends this coming summer so they each received some new fishing poles! Mason was super excited to finally have a new Mario Kart Wii game!
Levi gave me a vase and filled it with flowers for me! How thoughtful!
Nathan made a prime rib dinner which was delicious! I unfortunately was not feeling well on Christmas because of a cold. We spent the day playing and relaxing at home.
During Christmas break, the boys helped me make cut out cookies and decorate them! They also enjoyed making Emoji bead art, playing with neighbors, and getting extra screen time! I took them to Air Madness which was top on their list of things to do over their break!
Nathan spent a couple of quiet days at the cabin working on writing. He has had an extremely busy semester with another deadline on December 31!
We joined up with Nathan and spent a few days at the cabin as a family. The actual temperatures reached down to negative 16 degrees and thankfully the heater kept us warm inside!
On Saturday we took the boys to the water park at Bridges Bay!
They swam from 10 in the morning until about 5 and Mason couldn't quite make it awake all through supper that night.
On Sunday we went to church in the morning, took the boys to see a movie in the afternoon, and played a lot of board games and card games.
Nathan and Dorian took a 5-10 minute walk on the ice of Spirit Lake when it was -20, and then had to come in to warm up!
It's always fun to watch the sunrise and sunset no matter what season it is!
On New Years Day (Monday) we played some more games and then packed up to be home for lunch, take down Christmas decorations, and get organized for the week ahead.
We are thankful for the adventures of 2017 and excited to see what blessings are in store for 2018!
