September 2018

Labor Day Weekend
The Boogerd family came to the lakes with their new boat!  The kids all had fun tubing and they even got to try out wake boarding!

Brady and Dorian like wild rides!

Nathan picked out an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen to celebrate a fun summer season that is coming to a close.

California
Nathan spent a few days in California on a work trip and saw a sea otter from his window!

LEGO's
Dorian finished another working gumball machine out of LEGO's!  Love his perseverance!
Bike trails
I'm thankful for the bike trails that run through Sioux Center and to Sandy Hollow.  It gives Mason a safe place to ride his bike which he's been enjoying lately!
Golf Benefit
Nathan, Dorian, Levi, Dad and Claire were on a team together for the Compassion In Action Golf Tournament this year!  So thankful they can enjoy doing this together while also remembering Uncle Rodney and raising money to give to other families with blood cancers.

A night with friends
Dorian spent a night with Parker's family at Cutty's.  Levi took Jacob along to the cabin with Nathan and Mason for a night.  And I stayed home to work on covering silage piles.  The boys enjoyed another warm day at the lakes!

Apple Pie
Mason picked apples on his field trip to the Apple Orchard in Sioux Falls and was excited to make apple pie.  Thanks to Dad for helping him one Sunday afternoon!
Craft Sale
I drove back and forth to Sheldon a few different times to help Mom and Dad with the Craft Sale at their house. I was glad that I could go while the boys were at school and enjoyed the golden fields to look at on my drive. I love the Iowa landscape in the Fall!
The boys and I were really excited about my find at the Craft Sale!  A Pottery Barn LEGO table that my mom found at a second hand store and my dad repainted!  It's perfect!
Dates
Nathan and I discovered that we can more easily carve out time together now that Mason is in school 4 full days a week. We've gone to the lakes together and to Sioux Falls.  And Nathan has been coming home to eat lunch with me on Tuesdays!
Before and After
Sometimes I wonder how our house can so quickly turn into a giant mess.  Most days, I love doing laundry and dishes and putting things back in order.

Sunrise
Nathan spent some time working at the cabin and captured this beautiful sunrise!
Cat
One day while the boys were playing outside, they started playing with a cat that showed up.  My rules were don't feed it, don't take it in the house, and wash your hands after you play with it.  Since we weren't feeding it I was assuming that it was going to leave sooner than it did.  It hung around our house for a few days and the boys spent every moment they were home playing with it!

The Prairie
I was told that the prairie at Dordt was beautiful so I fully enjoyed a walk one afternoon to see for myself!
Cadets
Levi started Cadets!  He thinks it's pretty special that his Dad is his leader!
Pumpkinland
Dorian convinced me to take them to the Pumpkinland corn maze.  I wasn't certain that we wouldn't get lost, but we mastered it!

The boys each picked out a pumpkin!  I told them that if they could carry it themselves then I would buy it.  :)  Not surprisingly, Levi had the biggest one!

Oak Grove
Dorian was invited to join Lane and his family camping at Oak Grove for a couple of nights.  He came home smelling like fish and smoke, and with lots of stories about their adventures!
