May was memorable for mainly 2 reasons: FISHING and finishing the school year in remote learning. The weather was so beautiful and we are so thankful for the many hours we got to spend outside as a family! We were also extremely thankful for the cabin and enjoyed MANY hours there.
What a view!
We got some pretty good size Crappie on Little Spirit Lake!
Dorian has helped and taught his younger brothers a lot about fishing. He was showing Mason where and how to hold the fish he caught! Impressive that Mason is doing so much on his own now.
Mason was the first one to jump in the lake for the season!
It was fun to watch the birds swooping in front of the window and eating the Mayflies.
And sometimes our house looks like this! Yikes.
I love to see the Hostas coming up and things turning green again!
Mason lost a tooth!
The rocket Dorian made for school was a fish...of course!
Learning at home and learning at the cabin! Thankful Nathan could do his work either place too!
Restaurants were starting to reopen with lots of restrictions. The boys and I went out for the first time since everything shut down in March and it was funny to see caution tape on every other table.
Levi got his hand slammed in the door and his fingernail came off. Poor kid. He was treated well in the ER and hopefully it will heal well.
What a blessing to be loved by my boys on Mother's Day.
We were excited to play another Bethel CRC trivia game online! We got 5th place!
This is what the school entryway looked like for picking up and returning packets of work. What crazy times!
Mrs. Penner did a great job making the zoom call fun for 1st graders with having them race to find things in their house.
Walmart had more limited hours to allow for more cleaning in the store. There were only a limited number of people in the store at a time so you were counted as you walked in. Sometimes the shelves were completely empty.
I read this post from a Facebook friend and it really struck me. I read it many times and prayed this prayer a lot.
Living in a small rural community has its perks. Seeing these signs by the road and on the bike path reminded me of that.
Mason lost another tooth! I remember my mom telling me to put my tooth under a glass jar in the kitchen so the tooth fairy could come.
Sandy Hollow was another place that I was extremely grateful for! Ready to bike there!
The boys caught so many fish at Sandy Hollow. Dorian even caught a fish with a hand line!
Brady and Levi Boogerd were often fishing there too! How sweet to see all those boys outside together.
Last day of school, COVID style. You can tell that learning at home had become familiar because Mason forgot to put his shoes on!
We stopped in to see the Lamfers and Levi got to see their new puppy!
Time to see friends again! It was refreshing to spend a day at the cabin together.
Dorian got many Master Angler fish and a White Bass Species Specialist Award!
Impressive team work!
Dorian was just a bit excited about the huge fish they kept reeling in!
This is how I like to organize! Lay everything out to see what got stashed away for the winter and see if there is anything that can go on the donation pile.
Dorian, Levi and Mason all caught an impressive number of fish! I'm impressed with how much they have learned and how well they work together!
