Mt. Rushmore

On Wednesday morning we all went to Mr. Rushmore.

It was especially nice to spend time with Brian, Katherine, Mikayla and Caden since we don't get to see them nearly as often!  And it was fun to see Katherine's excitement about everything since she was the only one who had never been to any of the places that we went.

There was a walking trail which gave you different viewpoints of the faces.  It was nice to walk around.

Levi discovered that he really like taking pictures and turned out to be quite the photographer for our trip!  It was really quite adorable!  He took this picture.

It was always interesting to attempt the group pictures...but mom and dad were quite proud of their 10 grandkids all being together so it was worth it!  :)

After finding a spot to eat our picnic lunch, we went for a drive on Needles Highway for the afternoon.  The narrow tunnels were fun to drive through!  You can't see it on this picture, but there was a clear view of Mt. Rushmore through this tunnel!

We had many photographers to capture all of the wonderful memories!

The roads were very narrow, the switchbacks were very tight, and the tunnels were remarkably tiny....and we came up behind a tour bus!  The driver must have been crazy.  It took him nearly 30 minutes of backing up and inching forward to get through this tight spot.  It was really quite entertaining!

Once we were through the tunnel, we stopped to walk around at Needles Point.

There were quite a few rock climbers there that were fun to watch.

We had our own little rock climbers as well!

Boys!!!  We were having a hard time getting a picture of the boys, but I snuck up on them doing what they love to do...playing in the sand and rocks and getting dirty!  I do wish that their one and only boy cousin lived closer so they could play together more often, but we're thankful for the time that we had!
