Sylvan Lake, Wildlife Trail and back home

On Friday morning, we split up and each did our own thing for the morning.  The Lamfers went horseback riding for Emma's birthday.  The Bolkema's and DeKruyfs went to the Crazy Horse Memorial.  And we went for a hike around Sylvan Lake.  As it turns out, Levi was disappointed that he didn't get to hike up Harney Peak so this was our hike as a family.  It was a gorgeous spot!!!

Then we all joined up again to ride around the Custer State Park Wildlife loop where we saw wild buffalo, burros, and prairie dogs.

I was hoping that we'd have to stop for wildlife on the roads.  :)

We ended up back at Sylvan Lake, but this time to swim!

It was our turn to cook, so we grilled hot dogs and brats for everyone.  Since we weren't allowed to have campfires with the super dry and hot weather, the kids had fun playing with glow sticks instead!

It often felt like someone was missing and we did miss having Rodney with us.  It also felt really fun to be together as a family for a fun and happy occasion!  We are making new fun memories as a family together.

On Saturday morning, we packed up our cabins and then ate a pancake breakfast at the lodge together.  It was delicious and a perfect way to end our trip together before driving home.

The kids blew off a little energy at the park before getting buckled in again.

This was our last view of Harney Peak.

Love these pictures of the boys!!!  They are precious and they did SUPER on this vacation both in the car and while we were there!
